Why metal makes sense in North Texas

Around here the question isn't whether your roof will see hail. It's when, and how big. A hailstone that bruises or cracks an asphalt shingle usually leaves a metal panel with a small cosmetic ding, if it leaves a mark at all. That one difference changes the math on everything else:

The panels are also free to expand and contract as Texas temperatures swing, which is exactly what a 105-degree August and a 20-degree January will demand of them. It's the longest-lived system we install, and the reason it costs what it costs.

Stone Coated Steel Roofing

Not everyone wants a roof that looks metallic. Stone coated steel panels are pressed into the shape of shingles or tile and finished with a bonded stone granule surface, so from the street the roof reads as a high-end shingle or tile roof. Underneath, it's steel.

You keep the look of a traditional roof, and you get the hail resistance and lifespan of metal. On a stone or brick home the effect is handsome without shouting about it. The roof in the photo at the top of this page is stone coated steel we installed on a DFW home.
